DC Ad Club members convened on Clyde's of Gallery Place on October 7 for a luncheon with speakers Brad Beckstrom, Managing Partner, ApolloBravo Mobile Marketing and Rohit Bhargava, Sr. VP of Ogilvy's Digital Influence group. The sold-out event filled the room with attendees who listened intently as Beckstrom presented historical data on the upward trend of text messaging over the last several years, and the market that exists for marketing via mobile devices. Bhargava discussed the effect that word of mouth has when steering consumer purchasing decisions. As the author of a new book, "Personality Not Included," Bhargava offered his book at a discount and signed them after the luncheon.

Jaguar Gets Results from Mobile Campaign

Luxury car brand Jaguar has reported on the results of a mobile campaign it ran with Yahoo Mobile for its XF sedan, reports MediaPost.

The campaign was aimed at high-income consumers between ages 35 to 54, with yearly incomes over $150,000. The target is a departure from the teen/young-adult segment normally associated with mobile use. The effort's objective was to better address qualified Jaguar buyers, and to test the quality of Yahoo Mobile advertising across uncommon mobile audiences.

Jaguar placed banner ads on Yahoo pages, which served 20 million unique monthly visitors and generated over seven million brand impressions.
The campaign, timed to run in tangent with the Los Angeles Auto Show, yielded 82,000 clicks. 96 percent of clickers completed the mobile form to find a dealer nearest to them.

Mobile phones more important than wallets: survey

TORONTO (Reuters) - More than one-third of workers would choose their mobile phone over their wallet, keys, laptop or digital music player if they had to leave the house for 24 hours and could take only one item, a new survey has found. The survey, conducted by market research firm IDC and sponsored by Nortel Networks Corp (NT.TO) (NT.N), found that while more than 38 percent of the 2,367 people polled chose their mobile phones, less than 30 percent chose their wallets first.
